SOFTNESS IS NOT SURRENDERING YOUR POWER
I know how to be strong. I'm learning that the harder lesson may be allowing myself to be soft without believing I've become less powerful.

Strength has served me well.
I know how to handle things. I know how to make decisions when no one else wants to. I know how to walk into difficult rooms and keep my voice steady. I know how to continue.
There is comfort in being capable.
But capability can become armor so gradually that you don't notice you're wearing it.
People stop asking whether you need help because they know you'll figure it out.
You stop asking too.
Eventually strength isn't simply something you have.
It's something you perform.
I'm questioning that.
Not because I want to become less powerful.
Because I want access to all of myself.
There is a softness in me that I protected for a long time.
The part that wants to be held without having to explain why. The part that wants someone else to decide. The part that tears up unexpectedly. The part that wants tenderness more than solutions. The part that doesn't want to be impressive.
I'm learning to let her exist too.
To receive a compliment without immediately deflecting it. To accept help without paying it back before the moment has even ended. To let someone care for me. To rest before exhaustion forces me to. To admit when something hurts. To say, “I don't know.”
None of this has made me weaker.
If anything, it has made strength feel less exhausting.
There is a particular kind of confidence in a woman who no longer needs hardness to prove that she cannot be broken.
She can be tender and discerning. Open and boundaried. Soft and powerful. Held and completely her own.
Maybe softness isn't the opposite of strength.
Maybe it's what becomes possible when strength no longer has anything left to prove.
SIT WITH THIS
Where have you confused being protected with being powerful?
Take what you need from this.
Release the rest.
And leave a little more room for peace.
With love,
Lexi.
